About Me

This section feels hard to write. There’s so much I could say about what brought me to this work. Figuring out how to articulate that is a work in progress. For now I want to share that living in a divergent body has intimately shaped how I offer massage and bodywork. I’ve learned the necessity of listening to what my body is communicating through my own experiences of burnout and chronic illness, and being queer and trans is an initiation in listening to my instincts over the cultural scripts.

Community building and collective action has been a really important part of my life. I’ve facilitated and organised along around health and inequality, and my work has grown from roots in care and community. Roles that have especially shaped me include facilitating community spaces for connection and inquiry (including Unpacked 2021 – 2024, Beyond Patriarchy 2021 – 2022), sexual violence helpline work (Trans Survivors Switchboard 2016 – 2018), community herbalism (Herbalists Without Borders 2020 – 2022), and various local mutual aid projects. My recent organising has centered on supporting the provision of free blood testing for trans folks here in Scotland.

I am closely influenced by Buddhadharma and the embodied liberation work of Lama Rod Owens, and have supported his work as a Virtual Assistant and Retreat Coordinator (2020 – 2023). His teachings have shown me how essential it is to tend to our bodies if we offer care and support in our communities. Guided by his practices and teaching, I seek especially to support those in our community who are carers, community workers and agents of change. If this is you, and my rates are currently inaccessible, please do get in touch, particularly if you hold multiple marginalised identities.

I have co-facilitated Coming Home, a weekend course designed by therapist Daniel Morrison based on the work of Deb Dana which centers on mapping our nervous systems, and understanding how our experiences of stress impact our ability to connect and feel safety. My understanding of polyvagal theory and our nervous systems support my practice. I love sharing this knowledge, because it’s had a big impact on me.

For fellow practitioners: I coordinate an online space bringing together queer bodyworkers of various disciplines to discuss our work, share knowledge, and seek peer support. So far we’ve discussed boundaries in queer community, scars, chronic pain, and more. Get in touch if you’d like to join us.
